Subjects

Six subjects, taught every week

Hebrew and Judaic studies sit beside the subjects every school teaches, in one school day.

  • Hebrew

Taught every day, from songs and letters in kindergarten to short readings and conversation in the upper grades.

  • Judaic studies

Torah stories, holidays and Jewish history, by grade, with time for questions.

  • English and reading

Reading groups, writing every week and a class library each student borrows from.

  • Math

Math in grade-level classes, with number games in the early grades and problem sets in the upper grades.

  • Science

A lab morning each week from grade 3, and a science evening for families in the spring.

  • Music and art

Singing in every class, drawing and clay, and a concert for families before each long break.

Grades 6 to 8

A round table and a service project

Middle school students meet at a round table twice a week to read, argue and write about one text together. A teacher keeps the table and asks the questions; students bring theirs. Each term the class takes on one service project in Norman, chosen by the students. Math and science are lab-based, and a study hall closes the day for students who stay.

  • Two round-table discussions a week.

  • A lab morning in the science room.

  • A study hall after the last class.
