Family policies
What families ask before the first day.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
When to keep your child home
Please keep a student home with a fever or vomiting until the next morning. The office calls a parent when a student is unwell at school, and we ask that someone can come as soon as they can.
Drop-off and pickup
Dismissal is at the front door. A teacher walks each student out, and only the adults on the family's pickup list may collect a student. Please bring photo ID if a teacher does not know you yet.
Closures for weather and holidays
The school closes for snow and ice when the local district does, and the office texts families before 6:30 a.m. It also closes for the fall holidays, Passover and the winter break, and the office sends the exact days as soon as they are known. Fridays end early.
Screens and phones
Phones stay in backpacks, switched off, from the first bell to the last. A parent who needs to reach a student calls the office, and a teacher brings the student to the phone.
What to wear and bring
Students wear plain, comfortable clothes with sleeves and a hem that suit running outdoors. On Fridays many students dress a little nicer for the gathering, and there is no uniform. Any student may wear a kippah, and none is asked to.
Meals, snacks and allergies
The school kitchen keeps kosher, so a lunch from home is dairy or vegetarian, and the office has a short list of what that means. Hot lunch is ordered by the month. Tell us about allergies at the visit; we ask privately once you enroll.
Leaving the program
We ask for thirty days' notice in writing. The office goes through what it means for a term in progress before a family signs the enrollment agreement.
