A day at Maxim
From the front door to the last bell
The day has the same shape every time, so students know what comes next.
- 8:00
Step 1: Arrival
A teacher stands at the front door. Coats and backpacks go on the hooks in the hall.
- 8:20
Step 2: Morning gathering
The whole school meets for a few minutes: announcements, a short blessing and a song. A class takes a turn leading each week.
- 8:45
Step 3: Hebrew
Letters and songs in the early grades, then reading and talking. Every class has Hebrew before anything else.
- 9:30
Step 4: Morning lessons
English reading, writing and math in grade-level classes, with a snack break halfway.
- 11:45
Step 5: Lunch
A hot lunch from the school kitchen, or lunch from home. The kitchen keeps kosher, so lunches from home are dairy or vegetarian.
- 12:30
Step 6: Outdoors
Recess in the yard, with teachers on every side.
- 1:00
Step 7: Afternoon lessons
Science, Judaic studies, music and art, ending with a last reading.
Fridays
A shorter day, and a gathering at the end
On Fridays the school day ends early so families can get ready for Shabbat. The last half hour is a gathering in the meeting room: songs, a story and a wish for a good week. Winter Fridays end a little sooner, because Shabbat begins earlier, and the office posts the week's time every Monday.

Come for a morning
A visit day follows this schedule, from the front door to lunch.
